Lung Ultrasound in Acute Settings

A one-day basic and advanced lung ultrasound course with an international faculty — including Prof Daniel Lichtenstein, president of CEURF and widely regarded as the father of lung ultrasound, and Dr Silvia Mongodi of the GRIP, a leading expert in quantitative lung ultrasound. Organised by Saving Lives Academy alongside Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and SONIC POCUS.

Real patients, real pathology

Unlike courses that rely only on models, delegates join expert-led bedside ward rounds and perform supervised lung ultrasound in the Emergency Department resuscitation room and Acute Medical Wards — with a high trainer-to-candidate ratio, live image interpretation and immediate feedback from faculty.

Both the Lung Ultrasound in Acute Settings course (2 October) and the 5th SONIC POCUS course (27 October) are held in the Education Centre on the King's Mill Hospital site — the same site as our Mapping the Route conference.

By car

The hospital is easily reached from junctions 28 and 29 of the M1, and from the A38. On-site car parks use a ticketless number-plate (ANPR) system — no ticket needed; pay before leaving. See the Trust parking page for current fees and car park locations.

By train & bus

The nearest stations are Mansfield (next to the bus station, with buses to the hospital every ten minutes) and Sutton Parkway (bus stop on Low Moor Road, a short walk from the station). The Stagecoach number 1 bus stops on the hospital grounds, close to the main entrance.
