The EM Route is a clinician-led education initiative created by doctors who understand the realities of building careers, developing clinical skills and progressing through professional pathways in UK medicine.
Our aim is to make high-quality medical education practical, accessible and relevant. We create conferences, courses and learning opportunities that help doctors understand the next step, develop useful skills and move forward with greater confidence.
Education should help people do something better, not simply give them more information.
Content should be grounded in current professional standards, relevant guidance and real clinical experience.
The best education brings together different specialties, organisations and perspectives.
The needs of doctors change. The EM Route is designed to grow with them.
The team combines clinical, educational and programme experience across Emergency Medicine.
Sherif is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine, RCEM Portfolio Pathway assessor and RCEM examiner with a strong interest in medical education and career development. Having successfully completed the CESR route himself and joined the GMC Specialist Register in 2024, he understands first-hand the challenges doctors face when navigating the pathway to specialist registration.
He has extensive experience in supervising, mentoring and supporting doctors through their portfolios, alongside wider work in clinical education, quality improvement and point-of-care ultrasound. Sherif founded The EM Route to create practical, clinician-led education that brings together real experience, expert guidance and hands-on learning — helping doctors navigate their professional route and develop the skills they need for the next stage of their careers.
